Wireless Internet in the trains
The express trains of Edelaraudtee have wireless Internet that is available without a password. More specific guidelines for using Internet during your journey are given below.
Introduction
As an additional value, we offer you free wireless Internet based on a wireless local area network on our trains. The Internet connection with the external world is based KÕU, supplied by Televõrk AS, and is built on the CDMA technology. The Internet connection is intended for all passengers on an equal basis. On Tartu and Viljandi express trains, the wifi equipment is in class I carriage.
Speed
The downloading speed of the Internet connection is a maximum of 2Mbit/s while the uploading speed is up to 144 KBit/s.
Security
The whole KÕU network is secure but the computers used for the Internet connection are in a local area network. To ensure the security of each user, you should personally disable the shared use of files and folders in your computer if it is permitted in your computer under normal circumstances. Otherwise, other people using Internet on the train have an access to the shared files and folders in your computer. It is not possible to access your computer outside of the local area network of the train.
Necessary equipment and set-up
To connect to the Internet, your laptop must have a functioning wireless network card. Find the wifi network "Edelaraudtee". Establish the connection, read the conditions of use, and the IP and DNS addresses necessary for your Internet session will be automatically assigned to your computer. Usually you will need to do no more to connect to the Internet.
NB! No password is required to connect to the wireless local area network. The settings offered by us may differ from the ones used by your computer under normal circumstances and if you fail to establish the connection, please check the IP parameters of your computer (Start > Seaded/Settings > Juhtpaneel/Control Panel > Võrguühendused/Network Connections > LAN > TCP/IP atribuudid /Properties > set automatic assignments of IP and DNS parameters).
If you use special-purpose programmes such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc to send and receive e-mails, the SMTP server must be temporarily changed - it is “mail.kou.ee” on the train. Make sure to revert to your usual mail server once your have finished your Internet session.
Liability
The passengers are required to use the service in line with good practices. Your computer must have functioning anti-virus software and firewall software. It is not allowed to use P2P programmes. Edelaraudtee AS shall not be liable for the security and functioning of the software.
